Why publish news? Who cares?

Calvin and Hobbes, Bill Watterson, October 14, 1993

Who cares? The short answer: No One. The long answer: No One. The blunt answer: Why should anyone care, when you are No One?

Then, why publish news? After all, this is the Superfast News Age, in which news is not only transmitted in a flash, it is also consumed in a flash. This is the age of Social Media and Reels and Shorts and Feeds and short attention spans and information overload. Shouldn’t I trumpet my news on LinkedIn, Twitter, BlueSky, or somewhere else?

The blunt answer: I do not care, either.

This collection of news items is nothing other than pure self-indulgence; they are my diary entries for me to read in the future.
